Sixers’ Jaden Springer puts up 14 points in NBA G League

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jaden Springer on Sunday produced 14 points to help lead the Delaware Blue Coats to a win over the Raptors 905 in the NBA G League.

Springer also added five assists, five steals, two assists and two blocked shots in 34 minutes of work in the 114-106 victory. He went 5-of-13 from the field, including 1-of-6 from 3-point range, to cap off a strong weekend of play on assignment.

The 28th overall pick on Saturday scored a season-high 24 points with the Blue Coats to go along with seven rebounds, five steals and three assists. He has dazzled on both ends of the court as shown by his scoring and 10 steals over the last two games.

With minimal playing time available with the Sixers, Springer has had the opportunity to log extended minutes in Delaware. The team has utilized the Blue Coats extensively in the past and Springer figures to benefit with the minutes he has received.

76ers head coach Doc Rivers previously pointed to Blue Coats head coach Coby Karl and his ability to develop players. The team feels very comfortable sending Springer there and believes the time spent with the Blue Coats will be beneficial.

Springer figures to spend much of the season in a developmental role, either with the Sixers or Blue Coats. The opportunity to play with the Blue Coats should help improve his game and ease the transition to the NBA.
