Sixers don’t care whether they face Celtics or Hawks in semifinals
CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers are waiting for their next opponent in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
After sweeping the Brooklyn Nets, the Sixers will face either the Boston Celtics or the Atlanta Hawks beginning May 1. Boston leads the series, 3-2, after the Hawks staved off elimination on Tuesday. Game 6 is in Atlanta on Thursday.
At this point, the Sixers don’t care who they face, they just want an opponent.
“I don’t care,” said coach Doc Rivers. “I just wanna play. If we wanna do what we wanna do, it’s gonna be hard and just whatever. I really believe that. I told our guys that. I could care less. Let’s just bring them on.”
Tyrese Maxey is just sitting back and waiting. The Sixers have been working on themselves and will be ready whether they face the Celtics or the Hawks.
“I think the biggest thing we can do right now is focus on the Sixers,” said Maxey. “Like that’s the biggest thing honestly. Even today, we got to play a little bit against each other which is really good. We got to focus on our brand of basketball. How we want to play, no matter which team we’re playing against, how we want to play every single night. That’s the biggest thing for us right now.”
Considering how open the playoffs are at the moment, the Sixers need to be at their best. Of course, that depends on the health of Joel Embiid. If this roster plays to its capabilities, it can have a shot at winning the title.
