Sixers coach Doc Rivers gives an update on Matisse Thybulle’s shoulder

The Philadelphia 76ers will begin a quick two-game road trip on Saturday when they pay a visit to the Miami Heat. They will have to do so while being shorthanded as they are missing the likes of Danny Green and Shake Milton, but now, they will be without Matisse Thybulle as well.

Thybulle suffered right shoulder soreness in Friday’s win over the Boston Celtics after taking a hard fall. He had a steal and finished off a dunk where it looked like Boston guard Dennis Schroder pushed him in the back a bit. Schroder was called for a flagrant-1.

As the Sixers prepare for this trip, coach Doc Rivers did discuss Thybulle’s shoulder injury and he confirmed that he did not make the trip with the team.

“He took a hard fall, obviously,” said Rivers. “He’s not on the trip so it’s obviously more serious than we want it to be, but I have no idea how long that means. I think he got an MRI today or he was getting one and I haven’t heard the results or anything.”

The team did confirm that Thybulle did get an MRI and they are awaiting the results. The hope is obviously that he can return sooner rather than later as he is an important piece of their team.

The Sixers will head to the nation’s capital on Monday to take on the Washington Wizards to complete the short trip.
