Sixers’ De’Anthony Melton discusses his health after loss to Celtics

PHILADELPHIA–The All-Star break was an important one for the Philadelphia 76ers. Some players needed time to rest in order to prepare for the stretch run and one name that popped up in that respect was De’Anthony Melton.

The Sixers acquired Melton back on draft night looking to add a two-way player to the roster. He has done just that as he has been very good on the defensive end while also being a reliable shooter on the other end of the floor.

With that being said, Melton has been dealing with a variety of injuries, including a back issue. After a loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday, he gave an update on his overall health and how he’s feeling.

“My body’s feeling actually way better than before,” said Melton. “So I think that’s the most important thing and just managing it. Understanding where I gotta get lifts in and get treatment and stuff like that. So I think I’m doing a good job at it right now and just got to stay on it.”

In the loss to the Celtics, Melton had seven points and he knocked down two triples. It was a good effort for him after struggling against the Memphis Grizzlies in Philadelphia’s previous contest.

The back injury has been one that has nagged him all season long, but Melton reveals that it isn’t much of an issue anymore.

“My back’s actually better,” he stated. “No pain or minimal so I’m solid with that. Just got to attack everything else.”

Melton and the Sixers will look to bounce back when they play host to the Miami Heat on Monday.
