With the Philadelphia 76ers falling in Game 7 to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, the team’s attention turns to the offseason and improving the team. President Daryl Morey will have a few things to address as he looks to improve the roster.

One of the paths he can take is the draft. The Sixers have the 28th pick in the 2021 NBA draft in July. They unearthed a gem in the 2020 draft when they selected Tyrese Maxey with the 21st overall pick, so now they hope to grab another rotation player with this pick.

The Sixers need help on the bench unit. Maxey has shown he has potential, but he is not yet a good shooter, and he has work to do to really develop. They could always use another playmaker and a guy who can also shoot the ball.

One option, per a mock draft performed by CBS Sports, is Baylor guard Jared Butler. Despite being medically flagged, he has solid draft stock:

Jared Butler was referred to a fitness to play panel at the combine after undergoing medical exams in Chicago, so his stock is in limbo as we wait to learn more. If he’s cleared, he’s a clear first-round talent, though. Butler was the Final Four MOP for title-winning Baylor whose court vision, creation skills and above-average 3-point shooting makes him uniquely positioned to contribute to a Philly team in dire need of everything he can bring to the table.

Butler shot 41.6% from deep in his junior season with the Bears and he averaged 16.7 points and 4.8 assists. The Sixers were unable to find consistent play from their bench. While a rookie probably will not solve all of their problems, a guy like Butler would help.
