- Closers on bad teams carry fantasy value too. Just look at David Bednar of the Pirates. Sure, his save opportunities aren't as plentiful as some, but Bednar has converted all eight chances he's been given so far in 2022 while also collecting four holds. And the overall rate stats are even more enticing. The 27-year-old right-hander has pitched to a 0.87 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, and 28 to three strikeout-to-walk ratio through 20 and 2/3 innings this season for Pittsburgh.

Going back to the start of 2021, following the off-season trade that brought him over from the Padres, Bednar has a 1.88 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 81 and 1/3 total frames for the Buccos. He went outside the top 25 relievers in the average fantasy draft this spring because of the team he's on, but call him a diamond in the rough and keep reaping the benefits.
