No-hitter: Devin Smeltzer achieves baseball milestone for Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp

Series recap: The Jumbo Shrimp lost four of six games in their last home series against the Gwinnett Stripers, on a quiet series for the bats (16 total runs in six games). With the results, the Jumbo Shrimp were officially eliminated Saturday from playoff contention, seven games behind the first-place Durham Bulls.

Highlight: The highlights were sparse last week for the Jumbo Shrimp, but Troy Johnston provided one in Tuesday's seventh inning against Gwinnett. With one out and a 1-1 tie, Johnston whacked a double to left to score Jake Mangum with the go-ahead run.

Crustacean sensation: Shortstop Jacob Amaya was a rare bright spot at the plate in Jacksonville's last series. He batted .333 (6 for 18) with a home run and five RBI, and also drew three walks.

On deck: Unlike the Jumbo Shrimp, the Sounds are playing some of their best baseball of the year, climbing to the top of the International League West during the past week. St. Paul, Iowa, Gwinnett and Toledo are all within striking distance of Nashville, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Major League Baseball veterans Darin Ruf and Julio Teheran have both lined up for the Sounds in the past week on rehab assignments.

Probable pitchers Tuesday: To be announced.
