Short: Castellanos is a strong rebound candidate

DJ Short explains why Nicholas Castellanos is a strong rebound candidate for fantasy managers after struggling down the stretch in 2020.

Video Transcript

- Nick Castellanos was a popular pick in fantasy drafts after signing with the Reds last year, and he backed that hype up through the first few weeks of the season. But he scuffled down the stretch of that shortened 2020 campaign and ended up with a disappointing .225 batting average and a 784 OPS over 60 games. While there was a noticeable decrease in his contact rate, Castellanos was better than ever in terms of barrel percentage, hard-hit percentage, and average exit velocity.

In fact, he was in the top 5% in the majors in terms of barrel percentage, right up there with a couple of MVPs, Freddie Freeman and Jose Abreu. You like that. With the quality of his contact, Castellanos' expected batting average indicated that he deserved better luck. He has a track record to fall back on as well as getting to play half of his games in one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks in the game. Castellanos is a strong rebound opportunity for fantasy managers.
