Shedeur Sanders taking pride in elite level of preparation
Colorado is in great hands at the quarterback position with Shedeur Sanders, who impressed in Week 1 by leading the Buffs to a win over TCU.
Sanders’ success is largely due to the work he puts in before the game. His preparation for every situation is elite and he knows how to take advantage of learning opportunities.
The junior QB met with the media on Tuesday to evaluate his record-breaking performance against the Horned Frogs and to give his thoughts on facing Nebraska. He also spoke in great lengths about the amount of preparation he undergoes each week.
“Coach gets mad because I always talk about the one-off situations,” Sanders said. “I like being very detailed and having answers for everything a defense does, overpreparing. That is what helped us in getting the numbers we had in that game (against TCU).”
His preparation has gotten to the point where Sanders was not even watching TCU’s final drive. Instead, he was preparing his offensive line for what they would need to do next.
“I don’t watch (the defense),” Sanders said. “I get the guys together and tell them ‘We need another drive, ain’t no way we losing this game.’ I feel like that’s my highlight of the game, being able to look those guys in the eyes. They got my back and we’re all here mentally. We all know that no matter what happens, we are going to go down the field and score.”
