If you're looking for a workout while sheltering in place during the coronavirus pandemic, Mario Ferraro is your man.

The Sharks rookie defenseman -- and aspiring YouTuber -- posted a home routine to his YouTube page Saturday. All you need are a couple of chairs and some space, and you, too, can work out like an NHL player.

Well, like one practicing social distancing, at least.

Ferraro's at-home workout calls for three sets of the following, resting after you reach three sets of each group of exercises:

  • 15 push-ups, 15 sit-ups and 15 bodyweight squats

  • 15 decline push-ups, 15 rear-foot elevated split squats (on each leg) and 15 tuck crunches

  • 15 tricep dips, 15 step-ups (each leg) and 15 low plank to high plank transitions

  • 15 seconds of high knees, 15 seconds of lunge jumps and 15 seconds of burpees

"Depending on what you're capable of doing, you can make tweaks and changes to the workout slightly or the number of reps," Ferraro said in the video. "But, I'm gassed! It was a good little workout for staying at home."

Whatever workout regimen Ferraro sticks to during the season, it has helped his play. Had the NHL season not been paused by the coronavirus pandemic, the 21-year-old was just under 22 minutes away from becoming the fourth Sharks rookie defenseman to play at least 1,000 minutes. Ferraro has 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 61 games this season, emerging as one of San Jose's few bright spots in a challenging season.

Whenever the Sharks play next, Ferraro will be a key part of their success. So if a workout is good enough for a bonafide NHL player, chances are it's decent enough for anyone reading this blog.
