Severe weather: Parts of central and southern Mississippi are under a tornado watch

Parts of central and southern Mississippi including Forrest and Lamar counties are under a tornado watch until 6 p.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Jackson says there is a risk of hail up to ping pong ball size and damaging wind gusts of up to 70 mph. The chance of a tornado cannot be ruled out.

Some parts of the state may see severe thunderstorms pass through the area.
