Several key players return to field for Ducks ahead of Texas Tech

After a number of high-profile players missed the Oregon Ducks game against the Portland State Vikings on Saturday, there was some speculation about how extensive the injury report would be for Dan Lanning’s squad this week.

After watching players take the field on Tuesday morning, it feels safe to say that those concerns are a bit overstated.

A long list of contributors returned to the field on Tuesday in full pads, including RB Noah Whittington, LB Jestin Jacobs, S Evan Williams, LB Mase Funa, TE Casey Kelly, and WR Kris Hutson.

Here is a more detailed look on each player:

  • Noah Whittington suited up for the Ducks on Saturday and was part of the opening kick coverage, but took a hard hit on the play and did not return to the field. He was in full pads on Tuesday and participated in all drills that media members were able to watch.

  • Jestin Jacobs did not suit up on Saturday, and he has been limited in practice for the past couple of weeks. He was wearing trainers on Tuesday, but did carry cleats with him into practice. He was limited from what we were able to watch.

  • Evan Williams suited up for Saturday’s game but did not play at all, sporting a large wrap on his right hand. He had the same wrap on his hand on Tuesday but appeared to be full-go in drills.

  • LB Mase Funa warmed up for the game on Saturday, but did not play at all and was in street clothes once the game started. He appeared to be full-go on Tuesday.

  • TE Casey Kelly missed practice last week and did not suit up for the game on Saturday. He appeared to be full-go on Tuesday.

  • WR Kris Hutson warmed up on Saturday, but I was unable to see if he stayed on the sideline throughout the game. He did not play in the game. He was in full pads on Tuesday and appeared to be full go.

Several players were warming up off to the side during stretching drills on Tuesday, including Jacobs, Popo Aumavae, Taki Taimani, and Teitum Tuioti. We will continue to monitor their progress throughout the week.
