SERIES HISTORY: Alabama and Charleston have faced off once before

Alabama enters the NCAA Tournament as the No. 4 seed in the West Region, which is headlined by North Carolina, Arizona and Baylor. In the first round of March Madness, the Crimson Tide will face No. 13 seed Charleston.

The game will take place on Friday in Spokane, Washington, but this will not be the first time the Cougars and Crimson Tide have met on the court.

In the 1993-1994 college basketball season, Alabama finished the regular season, its second under head coach David Hobbs, with an SEC record of 12-4 and an overall record of 20-10. One of those 10 losses came at the hands of Charleston.

In Coleman Coliseum on Dec. 29, 1993, the Tide lost in blowout fashion at the hands of the Cougars with a final score of 82-60.

Alabama is expected to win this matchup, as their fast-paced offense should be too much for Charleston to handle. However, any upset shouldn’t come as a surprise in March.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama basketball as the Tide looks to even up the all-time series this Friday evening at 7:35 p.m. ET.
