Sergio Perez was clearly not expecting to see two marshals on the track ahead of him during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Racing Point driver posted an onboard video from his car during the race that showed a close call between his car and two workers who were cleaning the track.
After this incident, I’m just very happy with the outcome of my day. That we all can go back home safe and sound with our families. For the safety of the marshals I hope it never happens again! 🙏 #MonacoGP #Checo11 pic.twitter.com/PP8Me3Frlz

There’s no timestamp on the video but it appears to be from the race’s only caution period of the day from laps 11-14. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc had a flat tire that disintegrated and spewed debris onto the track and workers were dispatched to clean up the mess. Perez pitted during that caution for the hard compound tires — the same seemingly brand-new tires that he’s on during the video.
Perez went on to finish 13th on Sunday.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won the race for his fourth victory in the first six races of the season. The other two races have been won by his teammate Valtteri Bottas as Mercedes has shown itself to be far and away the best team in F1 so far this season.
