Serena Williams reveals her mom’s amazing parenting advice
She got it from her mamma! As Serena Williams prepares for the birth of her first child, with fiancé Alexis Ohanian, she is sharing some of the amazing advice she has learned about being a mom. On Friday, during her keynote address at a BlogHer conference in Orlando, the tennis pro revealed some of the greatest lessons she has gotten from her own mother, Oracene Price.

"It's interesting because my mom has always been so strong for me and she's been the woman that has just literally been unbreakable, someone that I always looked up to and all my sisters looked up to," said the 35-year-old athlete. “So, in the midst of having a child, it's like all of the sudden you start thinking about the lessons your parents taught you, especially my mom. And you start thinking about, 'Wow, what do I want to raise my kid as?' And when you're young and you're growing up you think your parents may be strict. Then you realize when you're older and you're like, could they have been a little stricter? Or should I have done this more?"

The 23-time Grand Slam champ continued to say, "It's like this is what I want my son or daughter to look like and this is what I want my son or daughter to do. And so I feel like all those lessons [my mom] taught me about being so strong, of proud of who I am, of being able to look anyone in the face and have confidence and speak with so much confidence is something that I really have been able to embrace and would love to teach my kid that."

Back in April, Serena accidentally announced that she was pregnant with Reddit co-founder Alexis' child on Snapchat. She had been using the app to keep a personal record of her pregnancy, and accidentally ended up sharing it. Speaking at a TED conference, she said: "I have this thing where I've been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I'm getting. I was just saving them (for myself). I've been so good about it, but this was the one time it slipped."
