Seniors Lauren Ebo, Audrey Warren and Joanne Allen-Taylor move on from Texas basketball team
Texas seniors Lauren Ebo and Audrey Warren will both look to play basketball elsewhere next season.
This week, theballout.com reported that both Ebo and Warren had entered the NCAA's transfer portal. Neither Ebo or Warren have publicly acknowledged their plans but their departures were confirmed to the American-Statesman by a Texas source.
Ebo and Warren are leaving Texas alongside fellow senior Joanne Allen-Taylor, a 5-8 guard who had previously turned her attention to professional basketball. Allen-Taylor was not among the 36 players selected in Monday's WNBA Draft.

Like Allen-Taylor, Ebo, a 6-4 center, and the versatile Warren both had a season of eligibility left because of the coronavirus pandemic. But the decisions made by all three to not return to Texas weren't a complete surprise.
Each of those seniors participated in Senior Day activities at the end of UT's regular season in March. Following the team's loss to Stanford in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament, Allen-Taylor and Warren also seemed to bid their farewells.
"I am who I am today because I put on this jersey for four years," Allen-Taylor said. "I just want to say thank you. I just want to say thank you because I'm so blessed. Even in defeat I'm so blessed."
Said Warren: "I wouldn't have wanted to go out with anyone else, wouldn't have wanted to step on the court with any other people than them. I just want to thank all of them. I want to thank the university, and it's been fun. It's been good."

The departures of Allen-Taylor, Ebo and Warren will open up some playing time when the Longhorns move into the Moody Center next season. Those three combined for 82 starts and accounted for 43% of the minutes played at Texas this season. Allen-Taylor's 1,243 minutes were a school record.
During the 2021-22 season, Allen-Taylor's average of 11.3 points per game ranked third on the team. Warren and Ebo respectively averaged 8.3 and 8.0 points per game.
"(These seniors) are absolutely incredible young women, and they're going to be so successful in life," UT coach Vic Schaefer said last month. "I'm just really honored to have had the opportunity to coach them and see them every day for two years."

Allen-Taylor and Warren were the final holdovers from the Karen Aston era at Texas. Sophomore guard Shay Holle signed with Aston while she was in high school, but she has only played for Schaefer.
Holle is set to be one of 10 returnees next season. Texas also signed three prep prospects back in November.
