Senior LB Adam Anderson wants 20 sacks this season

Senior linebacker Adam Anderson had a very solid 2020 season, recording 6.5 sacks in only 10 games.

He is expected to be one of college football’s elite pass rushers this season, along with his fellow outside linebacker Nolan Smith.

Anderson recently sat down with GeorgiaDogs.com’s John Frierson to discuss the upcoming season.

“I don’t know if my goal is unrealistic, but I’m going for 20,” Anderson said on Thursday regarding how many sacks he wants to reach this season.

As Frierson points out, through three years, Anderson is yet to actually start a game for the Bulldogs – but he still found his way onto the preseason Butkus Award watchlist.

We learned a lot about Anderson from this interview, with my favorite tidbit being that he is a big grapefruit fan.

“I’m more of a fruit guy. It’s rare that I go get a grapefruit or something, so when I do I know that I’m treating myself a little,” Anderson said when asked how he treats himself after a hot day of practice.

With Anderson receiving so much attention this offseason and being viewed as one of college football’s elites, he gave some detail into how he’s managing all that hype and attention.

It doesn’t change me, who I am. I only say that because I do this for a certain reason, and my certain reason would be for my sister. I never want to get over myself or feel like I’m doing it for some other reason. It’s just a love for the game, and I don’t care so much what comes with it, like what other people are saying. I just want to ball — that’s what I like and love.
