Have we seen the demise of the Boston Celtics double-big lineup?

The Boston Celtics absolutely smashed opposing clubs at the end of the 2021-22 NBA season by making use of a double-big lineup that bucked the recent trends in the league of relying on small or at least smaller ball lineups. Now, in the 2022-23 NBA season, the Celtics have used such lineups very little.

Some of it has been due to the change in coaching from Ime Udoka to Joe Mazzula. Some of it has been because of the health and rest requirements of veteran big man Al Horford and oft-injured center Robert Williams III.

Now, other forces appear to be pushing that lineup to the side for the Celtics late in the season. Have we seen a shift away from it for good?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast recently debated this point; take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
