Seeking spot in Northeast District, Andy Schaunaman announces council bid
Andy Schaunaman has announced his candidacy in the Northeast District for Aberdeen City Council.
Schaunaman believes each issue that comes before the city is unique, important and can have a big impact on people’s lives, according to a campaign news release.
Especially during a time of extreme inflation, Schaunaman said he is a proponent of fiscally responsible choices to ensure the city is getting the best value and not creating precedents it cannot afford to maintain.
“With the cost of labor and materials hitting record levels, the city needs to be mindful of how the budget is spent. I know the challenge can be successfully navigated while building for the future, and I look forward to being a part of the effort to make Aberdeen even better than it is today," he said in a news release.
Schaunaman is an Aberdeen native who returned to the area after graduating from North Dakota State University with a master's degree in architecture in 2008. He and his wife, Carol, have two daughters. He is the brother of Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman.
