Hokies timeout nixes winning blocked FG return in loss to Liberty originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
College football remains insane.
Saturday, Virginia Tech (4-3) took on Liberty (7-0) and the game certainly lived up to the hype. With the game tied at 35 with eight seconds remaining on the game clock, Liberty lined up to kick the possible game-winning 50-yard field goal. The Hokies blocked the attempt and returned it for a touchdown, leading to what seemed to be one of the school's most incredible victories.
However, in an attempt to freeze Liberty kicker Alex Barbir, Tech called a timeout prior to the snap which ultimately nullified the play.

On the next attempt, Liberty drilled the kick to win the game.
Tech is scheduled to face the No. 11 Miami Hurricanes next weekend.
