SEE IT: Kyle Schwarber tries to challenge play mid-interview originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Part of the beauty of in-game interviews with MLB players -- something that has become more common in recent years -- is that it gives the fan an inside view of the genuine reactions and thoughts players have during the contest.

On Monday new Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber had one of those moments, and it was hilarious.

During the fourth inning of the team's spring training matchup with the Houston Astros, Schwarber was on the mic when Victor Robles made a catch in center and the runner at second base tagged up to third. Schwarber -- mid-thought -- stated that he felt the runner left early.

He then yelled to his teammates on the field to appeal the play before throwing another pitch. There was plenty of confidence in his voice.

However, that did not translate into a successful challenge. The umpires ruled that the runner did not leave early. That was a surprise to Schwarber and the MASN announcers.

The outfielder yelled out a strong "What are you looking at?" at the ump for good measure before breaking into a laugh to encapsulate an incredible mic'd-up moment.

The Nationals brought in Schwarber with the hope his bat will bring a little more pop to the lineup, and that could be the case in 2021. However, replay challenges may be better left to manager Davey Martinez and the coaching staff.
