See Joe Milton throw basketball from Thompson-Boling Arena midcourt on ESPN's 'College GameDay'

Tennessee football quarterback Joe Milton can toss a football a long way and an orange even farther.

But how far can Milton toss a basketball? Fans at ESPN's "College GameDay" show Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena found out.

Milton was taking half-court shots while talking with the "GameDay" crew before the customary chance for a student to do the same to win money.

"Joe, take a basketball and throw it as far as you can," "GameDay" host Rece Davis said.

"Where do you want it at?" Milton asked.

Davis told him to throw the basketball into the stands, and Milton chucked it some 20 rows deep, about halfway up to the concourse above the lower-level seating.

It feels like Milton could have put a little more into it, no? Take a look:

Football, orange or basketball, Milton's arm strength is something to behold. And who better to have on hand for a Tennessee athletics event against another team wearing orange?

Milton threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns in the Vols' Orange Bowl victory over Clemson on Dec. 30, winning bowl game MVP honors and staking his claim to become the team's starting quarterback in 2023. And a video of Milton chucking an orange from one end of a regular-sized field to the other during practice went viral during bowl week.

But back to the round ball. Tennessee basketball hosts No. 10 Texas later Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena. And if someone sitting where Milton's basketball toss landed gets a shot in catching an errant basketball during the game, something went very wrong.
