Get ready for the Caps’ new goalie to be the sharpest dressed player on the ice.
After unveiling his new pads last week, Henrik Lundqvist revealed the mask he’ll be wearing next season. David Gunnarson, a NHL goalie mask artist based in Sweden, designed it with input from the King himself, and it pulls out all the stops to honor the goalie’s new home city.
The King revealed his new crown
Gunnarson described it as “a design which lives and breathes the city of Washington, it is a tribute to the fans of the Capitals. A crisp and clean design, but loaded with detail work and storytelling.”
The rendering includes a bald eagle, three stars, and the dome of the United States Capitol building flanked by the wings of the Caps weagle – all colored in shades of red, white and blue, of course.
“Final pieces, it’s all coming together. #ALLCAPS,” Lundqvist posted with the reveal on Twitter, and fans are going to love seeing Lundqvist go all out when he comes to town.
