The Washington Capitals have provided the first tease of their 2021 season outfits, and get ready to go back in time for this one. 

As a part of Adidas' #ReverseRetro campaign, it appears Washington will sport these alternates styled with classic red with blue stripes next season.

As the official apparel partner of the NHL, Adidas dropped the whole league's retro outfits for next season -- generating fan excitement and guesses in the process.

One hockey uniform aficionado hypothesized that the jersey number in each team's video corresponded to the year of the retro jersey. However, while the Caps have been rocking the red for the past decade and a half, the team wore white and black uniforms until the mid-2000s. If anything, these retros look more like the jerseys when the team rebranded back to the red, blue and white in 2007 or even the 2015 throwback jerseys.
