Second prediction has Oklahoma trending for four-star DL Xadavien Sims

A second prediction in less than a week has come through favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in the recruitment of 2024 four-star defensive lineman Xadavien Sims.

After Josh McCuistion of and On3 issued a projection favoring Oklahoma late last week, Parker Thune of OUInsider at Rivals followed with a futurecast late Monday evening.

Sims plans to commit on Saturday during C4Sports pro day in Durant, Oklahoma. Now it looks as if the Sooners have become the favorite to land the talented in-state prospect.

For months, the Sooners appeared to be taking a backseat to Mel Tucker and Michigan State. But in recent weeks, the buzz surrounding Sims’ recruitment turned favorably toward Oklahoma. All they have to do is close the deal.

Sims is one of the two best players in the state of Oklahoma. He’s a blue-chip defensive line prospect that plays with tremendous burst off the snap. His quickness and agility, matched with his play strength, make him an intriguing prospect for the interior of Oklahoma’s defensive front.

He has the flexibility to play defensive end in three-man fronts or slide in to play the three-technique (between the guard and the tackle) defensive tackle position.

Sims is one of several defensive linemen the Oklahoma Sooners are trending positively for as they look to stack their defensive line class for the 2024 recruiting cycle. Oklahoma is trending in a positive direction for Sims, five-star defensive linemen Williams Nwaneri and David Stone and four-star prospects Nigel Smith and Joseph Jonah-Ajonye.

The Sooners could bring in as many as six defensive line prospects to add to a really good 2023 class that featured five-star edge Adepoju Adebawore and four-star defensive lineman Derrick LeBlanc.

Brent Venables, Ted Roof, Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis want to have a deep rotation of talented defensive linemen. With the way things are going in the 2024 Recruiting Cycle, they could end up with an abundance of players that will make a huge impact on the field when the Sooners are in the SEC.
