SEC baseball power rankings entering final weekend of the regular season
There is a new No. 1 in the SEC power rankings as we enter the final week of the regular season. After a rough past two weeks for LSU, the Arkansas Razorbacks are now the top Hog.
Arkansas is 8-1 in its last three SEC series with their only loss coming to No. 6 South Carolina. The Razorbacks will face a struggling Vanderbilt team this weekend to end the regular season.
Florida has jumped up to No. 2 in the rankings after sweeping Vanderbilt last weekend. The Gators have been streaky as of late but they looked almost unstoppable against the Commodores.
LSU dropped their weekend series to Mississippi State last weekend and the Tigers have now fallen to No. 3 in the power rankings.
Here’s how it all breaks down with one series left in the regular season.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Last season, Ole Miss was the national champion. Now the Rebels find themselves at the bottom of the SEC and failing to make the SEC tournament. It’s been a tough year for college baseball in Mississippi.
Mississippi State (26-24, 8-19 SEC)

The Bulldogs may be the second-worst team in the conference, but they just took a series from the LSU Tigers in The Box. State will be depending on that same LSU team this weekend as it needs the Tigers to beat Georgia for it to have a shot to make the SEC tournament. Mississippi State will have to take care of business against Texas A&M, as well.
Georgia (28-24, 10-17 SEC)
The runs keep coming!
This time Will David sends the first pitch he sees over the shortstop and into let for a RBI single.

Georgia has been the streakiest team in the SEC. One weekend the Bulldogs look like world beaters and the next they look like they shouldn’t be in the SEC tournament. Last weekend was the latter. The Dawgs were swept by Missouri on the road and now have a chance to not make the conference tournament. The Dawgs will host LSU in the final week of the regular season and the last team out will be between them, Mississippi State and Missouri.
Missouri (30-20, 10-17 SEC)

On the other hand, Missouri may have just played its way into the SEC tournament after sweeping Georgia. They will hit the road this weekend to take on a scorching Auburn team though so we will see if they make the cut.
Texas A&M (30-22, 12-15 SEC)

The Aggies looked like they were hitting their stride after taking a series from the Florida Gators, but the Alabama Crimson Tide had other plans. After the Aggies took game one, Alabama put a smackdown on them in games two and three to take the series. A&M will hit the road to take on Mississippi State this weekend as State looks to try to make the SEC tournament.
South Carolina (37-15, 15-11 SEC)

The injury bug has struck South Carolina and the Gamecocks haven’t won an SEC series since they swept Florida at the end of April. The Gamecocks lost to Auburn, got swept by Kentucky and dropped two out of three against Arkansas in their past three series.

Talk about a rough slate to end the regular season on. Kentucky has played South Carolina and Tennessee and this weekend will play Florida to end the regular season. The Wildcats swept Carolina but they dropped two out of three to Tennessee last weekend.

Tennessee had a good series win against Kentucky last week and will now take on a struggling South Carolina team to end the regular season. The Vols seem to be hitting their stride at the right time.
Auburn (30-19-1, 14-13 SEC)

Auburn is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. The Tigers have won four straight SEC series and they will look to make it five in a row as they take on Missouri this weekend. A team that was once on the brink of not making the conference tournament now finds itself in a very nice spot.

I really thought that it would affect Alabama’s season a lot more when it lost their its coach, but it seems as though that hasn’t been a problem. In their past two series, the Crimson Tide have taken two out of three from Vanderbilt and Texas A&M. ‘Bama takes on Ole Miss at home to end the regular season.
Vanderbilt (35-16, 17-10 SEC)

The VandyBoys have had a rough past two weeks. They dropped a series on the road to Alabama and then they were swept by the Florida Gators last weekend. They will finish the regular season at home against the No. 1 team in the conference with a chance to right the ship.
LSU (40-12, 17-9 SEC)
With last night’s win, the Tigers have finished the regular season with their best non-conference record since 2015.#GeauxTigers | #ThePowerhouse pic.twitter.com/o43kB2ojsE

LSU is in the same boat as Vandy. The ship hasn’t sunk, but the lower decks are filling with water. The Tigers have dropped back-to-back SEC series. They lost on the road to Auburn and they lost to Mississippi State at home last weekend. Pitching has become a problem (other than Paul Skenes). LSU takes on Georgia this weekend as it tries to find more reliable pitchers.
Florida (40-12, 18-9 SEC)

The battle for the top spot in the SEC is close to being a toss-up. I thought about going with the Gators, but Arkansas is ranked higher so I went off of that. The Gators looked great as they swept the Commodores last weekend. They’ll travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats to end the regular season.

The Razorbacks are 8-1 in their last three SEC series. They’ve swept Texas A&M and Mississippi State and took two out of three from South Carolina last weekend. The Hogs will finish the regular season on the road against Vanderbilt.
