Season ends for area runners

Oct. 23—EVANSVILLE — No area teams or runners advanced from the Evansville Mater Dei Regional at Angel Mounds on Saturday.

The Barr-Reeve Vikings boys team finished in 20th out of 25 teams. Advancing teams included Bloomington North in first with 88 point, Floyd Central (94), Columbus North (101), Evansville F.J. Reitz (133) and Bloomington South (154), while the Vikings posted a 466.

B-R was led by Paxton Traylor at 51st, Logan Spinks at 104, Alton Klopfenstein at 116 Peirce Yoder at 141, Kaden Buse at 145, Tye Thompson at 183, Owen McCracken at 203.

Washington's two runners included Brody Wilson in 178th, while Nick Wright finished at 216th. North Daviess had three runners Travis Raber at 231 and Carter Jessie at 232, while freshman Mason Rathgaber finished in 137th.

Loogootee's Colt Kearns finished in 192nd.

The overall winner was Will Conway of Floyd Central with a 15:23.9, while Ryan Rheam of Bloomington South was second, four seconds behind.

The Barr-Reeve girls were the only girl's area team to advance from Sectional and finished 14th as a squad with 395 points. They were led by Emily Wagler who was 49th overall, Elle Knepp was 88th, Allie Knepp at 110, Emma Salmon at 134th, Madisyn Wagler at 159, and Katie Raber at 237.

Braleigh Armes of Washington ended her race at 224th, while ND's Hannah Yoder was 147th, Taylor Ferguson was 149th, Kasey Freed came in at 193rd.

The overall winners were Kaitlyn Stewart of Floyd Central (18:28), with Jasmine Martagolio of Bloomington South coming in second at 18:48.

The five advancing teams were Bloomington South, Columbus North, Jasper, Corydon Central and Edgewood.

The State Finals will be on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, Wabash Valley Sports Center in Terre Haute. The boys will run at noon and girls at 2:30 p.m.
