Badger Countdown: Best player to wear number 99
Badger Football is now less than 100 days away with Wisconsin kicking off their 2023 season on September 2 versus Buffalo. With 99 days until that contest, we’ll count down the best player to wear the jersey number that corresponds with each day until the season starts.
For the number 99, it’s not hard to find an athlete that can be considered the best to wear it. JJ Watt is the best Badgers player to wear that number.
Watt spent two seasons with Wisconsin after starting his college career as a tight end with Central Michigan, producing 106 total tackles, including 11.5 sacks, while with the Badgers.
His 2010 season really put him on the map and led him to be selected 11th overall in 2011 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He went on to spend 12 years in the league, retiring in 2023 as a future Hall of Famer.
