Seahawks’ rookie linebacker Jordyn Brooks continues to shine, contributes heavily against Rams originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

The Seattle Seahawks (11-4) reign supreme in the NFC West after their 20-9 victory over the Los Angeles Rams (9-6) on Sunday.

It was a game that had both Seattle’s offense and defense playing at their highest level and having little mistakes on both sides of the ball.

It was also a game that helped point out the future of this Seattle team - specifically on the defense.

On Sunday, Seattle’s defense leaders in tackles were lead by Jamal Adams, D.J. Reed, and yes, rookie linebacker Jordyn Brooks.

The rookie out of Texas Tech University had eight tackles on just 28 snaps in the game, seven of them being solo.

One tackle that Brooks had was a crucial one for the Seahawks. As the Rams offense was on the 1-yard-line in the third quarter ready to score on a fourth-down play, Brooks came flying down in the gap to stop the offense from scoring.

That play stopped the Rams from scoring any touchdowns in the game and allowed the Seahawks to take some time off the clock.

A huge defensive stop, as well as a shining moment for the rookie to showcase what he can provide for Seattle’s future.

“What I really like about him; he's very poised,” Said head coach Pete Carroll about Brooks. “He is very clear thinking during the game. You can talk to him and adjust and fix things. He's playing much more like he's been around for a while."

With linebacker Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright leading the charge with experience and knowledge of the game, Brooks is able to contribute with his speed which is exactly what the team needs from him as he continues to learn.

Brooks hasn’t made many rookie mistakes, instead, he is being led by two veterans like Wagner and Wright.

The future of the defense looks bright with Brooks already playing fairly well in just his rookie year.

Seahawks fans should be excited to see where this defense will be in the coming years. It’s already off to a solid start if we are being honest.
