Seahawks' hit-by-pitch touchdown celebration is the best of the year

We’re big fans of the touchdown celebration around these parts. Far as we’re concerned, if you’re able to score a touchdown in the NFL, you ought to be able to celebrate with a 100-piece philharmonic orchestra. Leave that stodgy old “act like you’ve been there before” nonsense for the workweek; games are supposed to be, you know, fun.

And by that measure, the Seattle Seahawks just uncorked the most fun celebration of the year to date, a tribute to the great baseball tradition of charging the mound after getting hit by a pitch:

After Russell Wilson found tight end Ed Dickson open for a 12-yard touchdown to put the Seahawks up 21-7 on the Lions, Tyler Lockett grabbed the ball and pitched it right at Doug Baldwin’s knee. Baldwin collapsed in an effective pantomime of a baseball player getting hit, and then charged the “mound” before getting clotheslined. (Don’t sleep on Wilson throwing air punches in there, too.)

It was clever, funny, and about one-one thousandth the length of a baseball game these days.

Now, long as nobody mimes Yasiel Puig licking his bats, we’ll all get along just fine.
