SD harriers celebrate 2023 season with awards
Nov. 18—South Decatur's cross country team wrapped up a successful season with its annual awards banquet. Members were honored for All-County distinction and All-Conference distinction.
South Donovan Hale advanced and competed in the regional meet in Evansville.
Letter Awards were given as well as stat books, team T-shirts and summer mile prize awards.
South honored the seniors as they finish their final season of cross country. Seniors included Brayley Sundal, Mary Schwering, Clair Schoettmer, Conner Newby, Donovan Hale, Bob Tryon and Logan Wilkinson. Look for these seniors on the track this spring.
Clair Schoettmer also received her IATCCC academic All-State award.
Coach Bethany Fromer noted she is proud of each one of these kids, the leadership they bring and the servants hearts each one of them have for their community. They served together every other Wednesday with "practice" at the Decatur County Animal Shelter, allowing dogs to get out on a leash and run all while getting their workout in for the day. The shelter loved when the team came to wear the dogs out. The athletes made bonds each week with the dogs as their running buddies. It was a win for both of them.
