Saturday’s men’s basketball contest between St. John’s and DePaul has been canceled due to a COVID-19 issue within the Red Storm postponed. The game is expected to be rescheduled at a later date.

“While we’re obviously disappointed at not being able to play today, postponing the game is unequivocally the right thing to do,” Athletic Director Mike Cragg said in a statement on Saturday. “The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff has always been our top priority and we saw no reason to take any unnecessary risk. We thank Coach Leitao, the DePaul administration and the BIG EAST Conference for their cooperation in this manner.”

St. John’s is 6-4 overall on the season and 1-3 in the BIG EAST. Earlier games against Texas Tech, Sacred Heart and Fordham have been canceled, while conference matchups against UConn, Butler and Villanova have been postponed, all due to COVID-related issues.

The Red Storm’s next game is currently scheduled for Jan. 6 against Xavier.
