Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Specs May Include New Blue Color Option

Despite Galaxy Note 8 rumors and leaks, an unnamed Samsung official said the company tried to place the fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 8, but decided not to do so due to "various technical limitations."

Samsung may be trying to replace its popular Coral Blue color option on the Galaxy Note 8. Tech informant Roland Quandt recently tweeted that the upcoming smartphone may be available in a Deep Blue color option, in addition to Black and Orchid Grey.

Samsung announced Thursday that it will host an Unpacked event Aug. 23 in New York City, where the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be unveiled. So far, many features for the device have all be been confirmed; however, there hasn’t been that much talk about color options. Reports have suggested that consumers can expect the Galaxy Note 8 to be available in many color options that are already known, such as Black, Coral Blue, and Orchid Grey.

But Samsung has been known to introduce at least one new color option for several Galaxy S and Galaxy Note release cycles. The manufacturer introduced the Orchid Grey color option on the Galaxy S8. The shade has a light-purple hue. The Galaxy Note 7 introduced the Coral Blue color option, which was so well liked, it was transferred to the Galaxy S7 Edge after the Note 7 was discontinued. The Galaxy S8 was also launched with the shiny light blue color option and it recently became available in the U.S. Samsung also often releases new color options after a device has been on the market for several months. The manufacturer released a Rose Pink Galaxy S8 in Taiwan in June.

Among many Galaxy Note 8 leaks, there have been none featuring new color options. All leaked hardware have depicted black handsets or components. Samsung has not spoken on color option details for the Galaxy Note 8. However, with now less than one month before the device is expected to be unveiled, more details may surface through leaks.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch dual-edge curved display, up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage and a dual-camera set up among its highlight features. Though early rumors suggested the device might introduce an in-screen fingerprint scanner, new reports indicate Samsung may use a rear-facing capacitive sensor, similar to the one seen on the Galaxy S8.

After its likely August announcement, the Galaxy Note 8 may release to the market between September and October, depending on the market.
