Sam Darnold will officially return to the Jets for their game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter

Darnold has been practicing all week and the team was remaining cautious to see how he progressed. With no setbacks during that time, it seemed he would be ready to return under center.

Darnold suffered an AC joint sprain against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football in Week 4. He went back in the play, but pain in the shoulder was too much to handle the last two weeks.

Darnold returns to a different offense, though. Le’Veon Bell is playing his first game with the Chiefs on Sunday, and Jamison Crowder will not be active with an injury of his own. At least Denzel Mims is expected to make his NFL debut after a hamstring injury has kept him off the gridiron.

The Jets need to get something going on offense after Joe Flacco hasn’t been able to muster any rhythm since taking over for Darnold.

Darnold has thrown three touchdowns to four interceptions over four games. He’s also rushed for a touchdown in his last game, while throwing for 230 yards on 23-for-42 through the air.
