Saints schedule official Top 30 visit with Maryland LT Jaelyn Duncan

This is interesting: the New Orleans Saints have scheduled another official visit with a prospect in the 2023 NFL draft. The Draft Network’s Justin Melo reports that the Saints will host Maryland Terrapins left tackle Jaelyn Duncan at their facility as one of the 30 formal visits they’re allowed each year. They’re also scheduled to host Clemson Tigers defensive end Myles Murphy.

Duncan weighed in at 6-foot-5 and 306 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine last month, ranking among the event’s leaders in the 40-yard dash (timing it in 5.1 seconds) as well as the vertical and broad jumps. That athleticism shows up on game tape where he easily moves out in front to pave the way for his teammates. He also took over 1,500 snaps in pass protection for the Terps in his five-year career, almost exclusively at left tackle.

As far as the 2023 draft goes: Duncan is projected to be picked in the second or third rounds, depending on how things shake out for other players in his position group. He could be an option for the Saints with their third-round pick at No. 71, though tackle doesn’t appear to be a great need with Ryan Ramczyk entrenched on the right side and Trevor Penning and James Hurst at left tackle, with backups like Landon Young and Lewis Kidd in the building. But you never know.
