Saints QB Derek Carr still in NFL concussion protocol

The Atlanta Falcons (4-6) have a big divisional game against the New Orleans Saints (5-5) this Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. While the Falcons are going with Desmond Ridder as their starting quarterback, Saints QB Derek Carr’s status appears less certain.

Carr is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol, Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters on Monday.

If Carr is out, New Orleans would likely look to backup Jameis Winston on Sunday. According to Allen, wide receiver Michael Thomas (knee) and cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ankle) will be out for some time.

Atlanta still appears to be without wide receiver Mack Hollins (ankle), per team reporter Terrin Waack.
