Kings forward Marvin Bagley out for season after suffering foot injury in practice

Marvin Bagley, who has battled injuries all season long, has been sidelined once again.

The Sacramento Kings forward suffered a lateral right foot sprain during a scrimmage on Sunday, and will not participate in the league restart at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida, the team announced on Tuesday night.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

Bagley appeared in just 13 games for the Kings this season, his second in the league, averaging 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds. He missed 22 games early this season after fracturing his thumb in the season opener, and then sustained a left foot sprain in December. Bagley tried to return nearly a month later, though lasted just four games before sitting out again. He didn’t return to the court before the league suspended play in March.

The Kings will resume play in Florida with a 28-36 record, the 11th-best record in the Western Conference. Bagley would have been a major help for Sacramento, who needs to make a significant push during the last eight games of the regular season — which is slated to start next Thursday.

Several members of the team have tested positive for the coronavirus, too, including Jabari Parker, Buddy Hield, Alex Len and Harrison Barnes. Parker, Hield and Len have since recovered and are with the team in Florida, while Barnes is still recovering at home in Sacramento.
