Sacha Baron Cohen mocks Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani at Golden Globe Awards
“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” director/actor Sacha Baron Cohen won twice at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. During his acceptance speeches he took time to mock former President Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani.
While accepting the Best Musical or Comedy award, Cohen interrupted his own speech, saying, “Hold on, Donald Trump is contesting the result. He claimed a lot of dead people voted which is a very rude thing to say about the HFPA.”
When he won for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical, he praised Giuliani’s brief appearance in his film. In the scene, which was heavily covered by news outlets, Giuliani is seen lying on a bed and adjusting his pants zipper.
“This movie could not have been possible without my costar,” said Cohen, “a fresh new talent, who came from nowhere, and turned out to be a comedy genius. I'm talking of course about Rudy Giuliani. I mean, who can get more laughs out of one unzipping? Incredible. Our movie was just the beginning for him. Rudy went on to star in a string of comedy films. Hits like “Four Seasons Landscaping,” “Hair Dye Another Day,” and the courtroom drama, “A Very Public Fart.”

SACHA BARON COHEN: Thank you again to the Hollywood Foreign Press. Hold on. Hold on. Donald Trump is contesting the result. He's claiming that a lot of dead people voted, which is a very rude thing to say about the HFPA.
KYLIE MAR: Actor and director Sacha Baron Cohen to come to awards from The Golden Globes on Sunday for his film "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm." The actor mocked former President Trump during his acceptance speech. And during a post show interview, he admitted that he only made the sequel because of Trump.
SACHA BARON COHEN: I made this movie because of Donald Trump, because I felt democracy was really in danger.
Racists were out and proud. We had one who is the president, and he was spreading these conspiracy theories and the hate and lies. And it was really helped by social media as well. And I felt the only thing I could do was pull out the gray suit and do Borat again.
KYLIE MAR: While Trump was the inspiration behind the film, Cohen took a moment during an acceptance speech to also bring attention to Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
SACHA BARON COHEN: This movie couldn't have been possible without my co-star. A fresh new talent who came from nowhere and turned out to be a comedy genius. I'm talking, of course, about Rudy Giuliani. I mean, who could get more laughs out of one unzipping. Incredible.
KYLIE MAR: But the film wasn't all laughs and silly disguises. There were also moments of terror for the entire crew, which Cohen thanked.
SACHA BARON COHEN: To the field team who literally risked their lives. And most thanks of all to my bodyguard, who stopped me getting shot twice. You know who you are, and you know I'm not allowed to say your name, but thank you.
KYLIE MAR: The scary moments which occurred during filming are why Cohen revealed after the show that he plans to say goodbye to the beloved character from Kazakhstan.
SACHA BARON COHEN: This was probably the most dangerous project I've ever had to work on.
You know, me and the whole crew took immense risks, you know? But yes, there were situations that I would never want to go back to do again, which is why the gray suit is locked up and not coming out again.
