Sabine tourney: Alto Softball posts wins over Pittsburg, Harleton and Big Sandy

Feb. 19—LIBERTY CITY — Alto won three of its six games in the Sabine Tournament over the weekend, defeating Pittsburg (3-2), Harleton (4-3) and Big Sandy (12-4).

Jenna Duplichain went 2-2 in the win over Pittsburg Thursday. Shanna Berryhill stroked a triple and drove in a run while Destiny Hart and Lacey Stephenson singled and had an RBI each.

The Lady Jackets plated the winning run in the bottom of the final inning to earn the victory over Harleton. Hart went 2-2 with a double and Kiely Jones bashed two singles in two official trips to the plate.

Kaci Garcia and Emily Gonzalez each singled and drove in a run for Alto.

Hart picked up the pitching win by going three innings and allowing only one earned run off of three hits. She fanned five and didn't walk anyone.

Hart sparked Alto at the plate in the Big Sandy game. She went 2-2, which was highlighted by a double and drove in three runs.

Berryhill lashed a triple and a double and collected two RBI while Gonzalez went 2-2.

Ashley Black also had a bid day at the plate. She clubbed two hits in three trips to the dish.

Stephenson went the distance in the circle and was the winning pitcher. She gave up a pair of earned runs on just one hit, struck out seven and walked five.

Alto will travel to Pollok Central Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
