Rutgers wrestling completes weekend sweep with win over Rider

On Sunday, Rutgers wrestling extended their winning streak to five matches with a 31-5 victory over Rider. The win capped off an impressive weekend in which the Scarlet Knights also beat No.20 UPenn.

Against Rider, Mitch Moore and Jackson Hurley picked up falls. Michael Cetta ( 149) had a formidable opponent in Quinn Dinner, ranked No.22 in the country. However, that didn’t intimidate Cetta, who emerged with a win.

Additionally, Sunday marked Rutgers tenth straight win over Rider. The Scarlet Knights have now secured seven dual victories before Big Ten Conference action each of the last three seasons. Rutgers will head into its conference schedule with a 7-1 record.

While the schedule will now get tougher, it is a challenge Rutgers and head coach Scott Goodale are looking forward to.

” We have a good enough lineup to really wrestle in this conference right now, and we have some star power, too, so that makes it exciting,” said head coach Scott Goodale. “These are going to be great dual meets and you know how much I enjoy the dual meets.”

The win also gave Rutgers bragging rights. The Scarlet Knights have beaten both the Broncs and Princeton in the same season for the third straight year. Rutgers will return to action on Friday when they take on No.22 Indiana.
