Rutgers jumps up in Net Rankings following Big Ten win at Penn State

Rutgers basketball got a much-needed win at Penn State on Sunday evening, overcoming a 19-point deficit on the road and getting an important resume builder for the NCAA Tournament. The importance of the win is reflected in the impact on the NET Rankings for Rutgers.

Big picture, it was a huge road win for Rutgers, who came into the game with four losses in their last five. Rutgers is now 18-11 (10-8 Big Ten).

Rutgers basketball came into the weekend with a Net Ranking at No. 37, a nine-spot drop from their ranking a week before. But following Sunday’s win, the Scarlet Knights are at No. 32.

The win was a solid one for Rutgers against a strong program that is on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Rutgers is now 6-6 against Quad 1 teams and improves to 4-6 on the road this season. Both are important numbers for NCAA Tournament selection but also for seeding in the tournament.
