Rutgers has been heavily recruiting New York state in recent years since the return of Greg Schiano as head coach.
Rutgers has three commitments from New York so far in this recruiting cycle. Deondre Johnson (Newburgh Free Academy; Newburgh, N.Y.) committed to Rutgers in mid-May. Then, following a summer camp, Long Island wide receiver Dylan Braithwaite (Holy Trinity; Hicksville, N.Y.) committed to Rutgers along with safety Ian Strong.
