During Canada’s major clash against Team Russia for Group A supremacy on Monday night, the forward hit the deck pretty easily in the game’s first period.

Picking up on his tendency to go down without much pushback was Russian captain Klim Kostin who had a few choice words to share about his play during the first intermission.

“In his previous life, he worked at a circus. Didn’t you know that? Perhaps he watched the World Cup of soccer, Neymar is probably his best friend.”

Considering the usual cliche answers players give, Kostin’s remarks easily have to go down as one of the most memorable to ever come from an intermission report.

And to be fair, it is really hard to come to the defence of Comtois given the reputation he has built over the course of this tournament. The 19-year-old has flopped quite a bit.

The book is out on Comtois’ diving, so it will be interesting to see how he – and tournament officials – respond to his bad habit.
