Russia uses Japanese restaurant for fake narrative about Ukraine, says NSDC

In post on the Telegram messenger service, the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council said that several Russian media outlets on Aug. 10 posted images of what was claimed to be a billboard advertising a Japanese restaurant.

In the advertisement image, a Japanese sushi chef covers the mouth of a Ukrainian woman while saying: "Let’s change the subject – let’s talk about delicious sushi.”

The Center for Countering Disinformation, together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan, turned to the management of the Sushinomidori company for an explanation regarding the provocative billboard.
The restaurant chain in turn posted on its website an official refutation of the fake ad.
The company said it does not support discrimination against any country or nationality, and the image that is being shared has nothing to do with it.
