Russell Wilson has never had a season go this poorly.
In ten years with the Seattle Seahawks, he never lost more than eight games (the QB lost eight games with Seattle last year when a finger injury hindered his season).
The Broncos have already lost eight games with Wilson this year (nine total), and more losses are likely on the way.
Wilson has never had a collective team season go this poorly, and individually, he’s never been this bad before.
Leading up to 2022, Wilson’s lowest single-season touchdown total was 20 in 2014 (they reached the Super Bowl that year). Through 11 games this season, Wilson has just eight touchdown passes, and he’s extremely unlikely to throw 12 more over the final five weeks of the season.
“I think for all of us, you know, I guess like you said, I’ve never really lost many games like this,” Wilson said after Sunday’s 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. “It’s a new feeling – one I don’t like. I never want to experience this again, and we have to figure out how to not experience this as a collective group.”
Wilson said the losing hurts, but he has to move past each game and focus on the next one, hoping to turn things around.
“It doesn’t feel good, but all I know is to focus on tomorrow.”
This has been the worst season of Wilson’s career, one he will want to forget. The quarterback — and fans in Denver — can only hope that it’s a one-off and not a sign of things to come in 2023 and beyond.
