Aside from slinging popcorn and fresh beers in the stands, Russell Martin has literally done it all for the Toronto Blue Jays this season.

The catcher, third baseman, shortstop and outfielder will take a stab at his fifth role with the club in 2018, with the team and out-going manager John gibbons announcing that Martin will take care of the managerial duties for the Blue Jays season finale on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Martin will sort the team’s lineup and handle the bullpen while taking the reigns with the pre and post-game media scrums, too. The organization and its fans gave Gibbons an incredible send off during his last home game as Blue Jays manager earlier this week, complete with Gatorade showers and ovation after ovation from the Toronto Faithful in attendance.

Gibbons managed nearly 1600 games over two stints with the club and guiding the team to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2015 and 2016, and an AL East pennant in 2015. It was announced recently that the Blue Jays will be parting ways with Gibbons at the end of the 2018 season.

No word yet on whether Gibby will be suiting up behind the plate in Martin’s place, though.
