Russell Brown of FantasyPros has Vikings taking wide receiver in latest mock

The Minnesota Vikings moved on from Adam Thielen earlier this offseason but have yet to address the wide receiver position in free agency, leaving fans wondering if they’ll wait until the NFL Draft to address the need.

On Tuesday, Russell Brown of Fantasy Pros released his latest mock draft and had the Vikings filling the void left by Thielen by selecting TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston.

By letting Adam Thielen go, the Vikings could very well be indicating that they’re interested in a first-round receiver. Obviously, it could be JSN or Addison, but with Quentin Johnston available, there’s got to be some interest. Especially after he checked into the Combine at 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds while posting a 41.5-inch vertical.

Most likely an ‘X’ receiver in the NFL, Johnston has the speed and burst to make plays after the catch. There are times that he can take a designed screen for a big gain or even to the house. I do have questions about his physical ability at times. When looking at some of the past receivers in the draft, you can see the “alpha dog” mentality on the field, but with Johnston, it seems to be lacking. Regardless, he’d compliment Justin Jefferson and KJ Osborn well in an offense that also features TJ Hockenson and Dalvin Cook.- Brown

This is a move that would no doubt help the Vikings and Justin Jefferson. Johnston could step in on day one and immediately take advantage of the single coverage he’d face while teams defend Justin Jefferson.

Should Minnesota decide to go this route, they’d be set at the wide receiver position for the next decade.
