The Rush: Tatum drops 54, Boston fans taunt Kyrie, Big Baby gets booted

A lot happened in the Boston Celtics 126-120 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. Jayson Tatum dropped 54 points and tied Larry Bird with the most 50-point games in Celtics history. During the 4th quarter, Boston fans taunted Kyrie Irving with a “Kyrie sucks” chant, resulting in Irving making an unexpected analogy about Celtics fans. Another former Celtic, Glen “Big Baby” Davis was kicked out of his seat on live TV while rocking a “respect the logo” t-shirt. In college hoops, the Women’s College Basketball SEC Championship game was insane as Kentucky upset South Carolina. - A little heat check time, perhaps. Over Kyrie, [INAUDIBLE].

[WHISTLE]

ARIEL EPSTEIN: Basketball is really starting to heat up. You don't have to look much further than the Boston Celtics, who are on fire.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

- [? Hakeem ?] is on fire.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: The Nets showed up to the Garden with a recently-activated Kevin Durant, and he continued to look sharp.

- Looking good, Billy Ray.

- Feeling good, [? Lewis. ?]

ARIEL EPSTEIN: However, it was Celtics three-time all-star Jayson Tatum who stole the show. He dropped 54 points to help Boston to the 126-120 victory.

- It finds Tatum. They double-team him, took it on a traffic. Bucket, wow.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: Tatum now has four 50-point games, tying Larry Bird for the most in Celtics history. By the way, Tatum just turned 24 years old.

- He's just a baby, you know.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: While Durant is the Nets' best player, it's the ex-Celtic, Kyrie Irving, who really captured the attention of Boston fans.

[CROWD CHANTING "KYRIE SUCKS"]

- 25 assists, Horace, proves what you're talking about.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: Yep, that was the always classy Boston fans chanting "Kyrie sucks" in the fourth quarter. In a post-game interview, Irving compared Boston to a jilted ex-lover.

KYRIE IRVING: You know, it's like the scorned girlfriend, you know, just wants an explanation on why I left but still hoping for, you know, a text back. And I'm just like, yeah. It was fun while it lasted

ARIEL EPSTEIN: Wow. I wish I could say that was the craziest thing to happen to an ex-Celtic player in this game.

- But that would be a lie.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: Because Glenn Davis, a.k.a. "Big Baby," made a, shall we say, eventful appearance.

GLENN DAVIS: Oh, these are our seats?

- Yeah, yeah.

GLENN DAVIS: All right.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: This clip has layers. Let's start with Glenn's T-shirt, which says "Respect the logo." That's a reference to Kyrie stomping on the Celtics' half-court logo in last season's playoffs. Next, Big Baby is already in trouble for allegedly stealing money from the NBA's health and welfare benefit program. And now he's trying to steal this guy's seat?

My advice to a man with the nickname "Big Baby"-- keep a lower profile, bud.

GLENN DAVIS: This is your boy, Big Baby, man. Don't believe all that shit on the internet. I will have my day in court.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: College hoops is hot right now. Just check out this SEC championship game with a heavily-favored South Carolina up against Kentucky.

- Trey Edwards, top of the key, with the 3! 4.2 seconds. South Carolina with a prayer.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: For perspective, South Carolina has won the SEC championship in six of the last seven years. Kentucky, on the other hand, hasn't won the conference championship since 1982.

- Yowzas.

ARIEL EPSTEIN: That's the madness of March for you. Let's just hope some of these men's games have some buzzer-beaters, too, because brackets are here.
