The Rush: Lakers remind Heat who the underdog is in Game 1 of NBA Finals
The Los Angeles Lakers won Game 1 of the NBA Finals in convincing fashion over a Miami Heat team that sustained several injuries, the second day of the MLB postseason featured 8 different games, the most ever for a single day of the playoffs, and the NFL officially postponed this week’s Titans vs Steelers game after multiple people in the Tennessee organization tested positive for COVID-19. PLUS: Carlos Correa and the Astros go full heel, Minnesota may never win another playoff game, and you can only get the ‘rona on the weekend.

JARED QUAY: Well, the NBA kicked off the finals last night. We got a lot more on that in a second. The NFL was busy doing damage control. The league officially postponed this week's Titan-Steelers game after a COVID-19 outbreak in the Titans locker room.
Now if you're worried what that's going to do to your fantasy lineup, don't be. Because instead of playing on Sunday, they just moved the game back a day or two. Because everybody knows that rona can't get you during the week. It's a weakened virus.
But enough about a game that ain't happening. Let's talk about one that did. It was only two days ago that Jimmy Butler said that he felt Lakers were the true underdogs, but it feels a lot longer than that.
After a slow start to the first quarter, the Lakers hit 3, after 3, after 3, after 3 on their way to a convincing 116-98 win over the Heat in game 1 of the Finals. To make matters worse for the Heat, Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic, and Jimmy Butler all suffered injuries.
Game 2's tomorrow. But in the meantime, both Miami and LA have other teams in the hunt. The National League kicked off their half of the postseason yesterday. The top seeded Dodgers took game 1 of their series. The Marlins did too but lost their best player to a broken pinkie.
The Cardinals head off a Padres comeback. And I don't know how, but the Reds found a way to somehow lose after striking out 21 Braves. 21 strikeouts? Is that possible? I thought there was only 27 outs. In the junior circuit, Oakland forced game 3 and will play the Sox later today, while the Yanks and Rays punch their ticket to the next round.
- And DJ LeMahieu on an 0 and 2 pitch has given the Yankees a 10 to 9 lead.
JARED QUAY: Now, the Houston Astros did do. But this time, they didn't even need a trash can. After the game, the team's shortstop had a few words for the haters.
CARLOS CORREA: I know a lot of people are mad. I know a lot of people don't want to see us here. But we won a series on the road in Minnesota, so what are they going to say now?
JARED QUAY: What are they going to say now? Hmm, that's a good question. How about this? That was the Twins' 18th straight loss in the playoffs. 18, bruh.
They ain't won a playoff game since 2004. You were like, 10 years old back then. You remember that? Because I don't even remember that. And y'all still cheated.
