The Rush: Antonio Brown and Tom Brady’s imminent reunion overshadows trade deadline

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers activated WR Antonio Brown who is expected to play this weekend against the Saints, the NFL trade deadline passed as New Orleans, Tennessee and Pittsburgh all beefed up their defenses, and the bigger trades were those that didn’t happen, as Will Fuller V, Stephon Gilmore and Takkarist McKinley all ended up staying put. JARED QUAY: All major sports were dark yesterday, but a few athletes found a good way to spend their election day. Stick around to find out exactly how. But first, we got to talk football, baby. Yesterday was the NFL trade deadline, and it was so quiet that the biggest move of the day wasn't a trade but a roster move.

Antonio Brown is returning to the field as he's scheduled to suit up for the Buccaneers practice today. The last time he played he caught a touchdown from Tom Brady in Florida. And the Buccaneers are probably hoping that he repeats that action this weekend against the Saints. But New Orleans is going to have someone new suiting up too-- Pro Bowl linebacker Kwon Alexander. He came over from the Niners for Kiko Alonso and a fifth round draft pick.

The Tennessee Titans beefed up their defense too, adding Pro Bowl corner Desmond King. They also released Vic Beasley and former All-Pro corner Jonathan Joseph. And after getting gassed by Joe Burrow and the Bengals, good idea.

Nobody had a better trade deadline than Avery Williamson. He went from the win-less Jets to the undefeated Steelers. Yo, that's a 14-game swing. So if the Steelers lose this weekend, we know exactly why.

- Yes, we do.

JARED QUAY: But the real story with the guys who didn't get treated. Will Fuller may have blazing speed, but he wasn't fast enough to escape Houston's disastrous season. Teams checked in on former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, but Belichick set the price so high it'd probably be easier to get a ticket to Mars.

And the Falcons didn't trade Takkarist McKinley. We know that because he told us. And he knows because they told him. At least that's what he tweeted yesterday, and he wasn't the only athlete making his voice heard.

It was Election Day yesterday as the oldest rivalry in America took center stage. And no matter what side you're on, we hope you took part. And if you were out there, you might have seen some of your favorite athletes leading the way. But if you missed them, we've got you covered right here.
